  in a word, yes
  
  it's just a souped up x-box with faster processor and more RAM..
  
  nothing major except the design looks better than the yukky huge old thing..

  it is backward compatible... since Xbox 360 uses HD-DVD, the existing games which uses DVD(If im not wrong) will definitely be able to play on Xbox 360 as well
