Giant is malaysia one rite? They dun have many branches in spore. Only one I know is at IMM Jurong East.
Personally, I shop more at NTUC than others. Usually the supermarket is visited which is closest to one lives so for ppl no car can carry the things home at a short time. In this aspect, NTUC shines cuz almost in all neighborhoold centres there's one.
Giant, Shop N Save, Cold Storage, Sheng Shiong lose out in this aspect. For me I can go Cold Storage and NTUC but I find in general NTUC cheaper though not always fresher than Cold Storage. For me I not so fussy on freshness so it's ok

Cold Storage:
Beef Steaks and their perishable products are the most reliable and tip top quality.
I'd go there for my steak.
Can find much more products which you don't find in other SM. Western and Japanese products inclined.
NTUC:
Neighbourhood supermarket. Normal.
Sheng Siong:
Cheap stuff and good for bulk buys
Hawkers love SS
Giant aka G Value?
Not bad, unfortunately the biggest i've seen is in jB.
Not much in SG.
Carrefour
Huge and good! But alittle high end. But good products.

Actually gotta factor in transport cost also when visiting supermarket. If got car sure buy alot to make your petrol and parking fees worthwhile. So even if you say cheap add in those additional cost it is not cheap either. At best what you get is fresher products.
For me I walk to NTUC so I save on petrol and parking fees which is substituted by my legs hahahahah.... ok I admit I got a free hand held trolley to take along when I buy more stuff like say 5kg rice and 1.5 kg cooking oil so heavy stuff hahaha......
