I walk my dog regulary atleast 3 times a day, sometimes even more becasue it is a Jack Russel Terrier and this breed needs lots of movement. I don't take him with me for shopping or wherever I go every day, becasue I know it's a problem to visit a cafe or some shops with a dog and I think the dog wouldn't feel well among many people and always on the dog line. I don't take him to places where I know the dogs are not welcome. I walk him in places where he can run without the line, he doesn't run away, he listens to me and obeys. Else I keep him on the line, when among people I always keep him on the line. But I take him with me for trips if dogs are allowed there and it's a nature trip. I don't use a taxi, I have a car and he makes no problems in the car, usually he even doesn't sit on the seat but under it. He likes my male friends, but once when we were taking a pic and a friend put his hand on my shoulder my dog snapped it like if he would tell him "Keep your hands away!". -

The protective behavior can pose a problem for you if you get a boyfriend or marry next time. -

I know, but I think he would be fine with that, he was fine with my exbf but that time he was a little puppy, now he is still a puppy but almost adult, 9 and half months old. Dogs and pork stuffs are minor things, compared to those
family values they teach.
Why can't a minority group compromise for the rest
instead of the majority compromising for them???
I am not racist (i have many good muslims friends infact ),
but i really feel that perhaps some religions (not just islam) should
adapt to modern society/humanity changes.
Human evolve, society changes, so does his culture, language and beliefs.
If Im the government, "Citizenship and Humaninity" holds number one.
then religion.
In such case, i would ensure that some religion change their rules
so as to adapt to modern society as a whole.
For example. i will ensure every human should have the right
to choose his/her own religion, instead of being forced
to follow one upon birth.
I believe catholics and muslims and have such rules,
which i personally feel is not well-adapted to modern society
and humanity generally.
Race or Religion is not number one, Humanity is.
We are all human.
Just my personal naive view. -

hi nulife,
there are a lot of compromise here. its just plain basic consideration for others. causal race comments are fowever here to stays between any race and any neighbours. Race threats are a definite no no and should be reported.
but its only a very small group that cannot compromise. these grps ,regarless of race or religion, are the anti social troublemakers that wants their ways. you can spot them very easily. one the most common rebutters they use is accuse others of racist. they can say it, means they are one of them.
so anyone encounter being called racists for your authority actions or even casual race remarks, just take note they are trying to put you down and should be reported to higher authority. its a criminal defame.
its the same with making female remarks, it does not make a man MCP, or should it be punished and jailed.
sometimes, it may be due to wealth and status in live or have money or no money thing. or even jealousy.
we all do get all kinds of race remarks, jokes and so on everyday, we just take it as a passing thing and know we are all different and think differently. -

What i meant was I hope religious leaders or even government
would take lead in amending these rules.
Rules are made by men after all. And the world is changing now.
Some rules made by our ancestors hundreds or thousands of years ago
may not too relevant now.
If S'pore lived by those rules of LKY era, we, the society as a whole
would not have survive the world economic and society changes.
We had changed drastically, most prominently in the last 10 yrs,
esp with tech/internet invasion and china/india opening up.
Just my view.
Infact, such includes not just Islam.
I would also say government should make those christians preaching
their religions an offence, or at least discourage that.
Just an example where i feel government shud now play a different
role as society is changing.
I feel humanity and society-order with laws/rules enforced by authority
stands before all religions, esp in spore society as a multiracial country.
And these laws or rules must now change.
Of cos, jus my view. May not be correct also. -
I agree partly with NuLife.
But some values have to be retained.
Like the love for family , one another , and religious harmony and the need for peace. Some conservative thinking like no premarital sex is also good.
However , some old values that ought to be discarded should be something like..For example , being myself , i don't really like the old belief of "shaking leg"
will lose money , or looking into the mirror at night.
These old traditions got to go.. -

Actually if I'm not wrong, some dogs will go through an adolescence stage between 10-18 months old where they might try to climb up the dog rank ladder.. My Jack Russell did that too (female) by showing signs of protectiveness, growling when my maid approached her sleeping area, and sometimes eliminating outside of her toilet area. In fact I have a new 5 month old female lab and though they're not really into the rank and order thing, it's difficult getting her to understand my JRT is the top ranked dog under the humans in our house, simply because of the differences in physical size haha..
But I love JRTs, great dogs, got to be real firm with them though. They have this somewhat funny tendency of thinking they're a 150kg dog when they're less than 15kg.. Mine intimidated the !@#$%^ out of a full grown German Shepherd when I took her for a walk the first day. They also don't seem to like other dogs as much as humans.. -

Are we saying that religious leaders should alter the teachings of their religion to make them more palatable to non-believers? Muslims are followers of the Koran and its teachings, not writers of the Koran.
I believe we can find better alternatives than forcing our Muslim brothers to go against their religious teachings, particularly over such an issue.
If I were home right now, I would seriously consider setting up an animal taxi service for pet lovers who need transportation. Perhaps dog lovers and dog appreciation clubs in Singapore can consider this as a solution. -

Not just islam, but all other religions too.
After all, rules are created by man.
The basic view is, society is changing, so must change to adapt.
For eg, if certain taoism or buddhism's usual practise
such as use of joss-sticks are replace by other methods,
it will be seen more as a modern religion.
The teachings do not change. Just a little changes to certain practises.
Infact, such changes need not come from religious leaders,
all believers of different religions can do that.
Another slightly more 'sophisticated'/chim example:
one can eat whatever u want (pork, beef), as long as
ur moral/belief is still inline with certain religions (islam, buddhism etc), that will do.

its should be okay to make moderate comments and not be accuse of being extreme.
this is how they put people down.
if an adult says or if a bus captain says kids should not be left alone in the bus, does that mean he hated kids. no of course.
All should repsect any views , good or bad by others and not take it as a "death threat". -
