Download Chinese character reader!

  I've got the typing and reading part correct MOST of the time... But in some Chinese chat and for some programme names, the Chinese words just don't show up

  sorry, u using IE as browser?
  
  If using IE, go to 'character encoding' under 'View' menu of IE browser, select 'more'--> click either 'Chinese Simplified xxxxx' at a time to see if problem clear.
  
  xxxx represent different Chinese Simplified encoding e.g. Traditional
  
  And what kind of chat e.g. chat on the browser or uses a separate software? Microsoft does not really support third party software, i think.I know only Njstar does.

  using win 2k... i tried typing chinese in notepad, but they showed squares...
  
  i can read n type almost anywhere else tho

  use microsoft sans serif or NSimSun or SimSun (the later two fonts need to switch to change its script setting as well
  
  i.e. Western and some other like chinese blah blah one....cant remember...
  
  the reason why u get garbage cos the default fonts for notepad have no scripts to support eastern asian languages.
