hmm..been given quite alot of prelim paper from other school this year.. all i can say is Venice has a damn high possibility of coming out (after checking all the schools SEQ which all included venice), most of my friends are banking on it =/

best is try to study al least everything ..then last few days focuse on those u think will come out..just in case that yr wad u guess never come out..then the 25 marks gone...
my yr , which is the 1st batch got venice but i never study lol.. but i tink venice n merger not safe... wad i think good to study is the conflicts n industial develop..
why? cause of violence like terrorism u see nowadays -
at least read through everything. there's no guarantee in what may come out.

Forget one thing. My teacher says that Venice was tested quite a long time ago and has not been tested since. Since it did not come out last year, it may come out this year. Better study Venice.

Topic which came out last year will least probably come out. but most importantly is to remember all the main points. so when the qns is out. jot down the important points. the elaborate based on ur understanding..

the expectation of the social studies paper of not that high as you've mentiioned... 90% of the time they want facts and examples.... n u just need to argue a teeny portion for the last paragraph. as long as you memorize ur stuff well, its at least a A2 or a B3.. Actually, I have the book on how to answer for ss structured question and source base, so I need not worry how to answer them. (yes, for every chapters), but the problem is the spotting of questions.

Likely to come from sec 4 textbook bah since they covered all the chapters in the sec 3 textbook liao over the last 3 or 4 years. Last year my paper all questions come out from the sec 3 textbook.

the trend over the years for ss is that they won't ask questions from the same topic. So far, only 4 topics left have not been tested so shud focus on these four plus 2 others which came out on the first yeat ss was introduced (2002). So, i feel these are the topics that shud be studied
- Health n Edu (sg, switzerland, british)
- Population (sg, japan not in syllabus)
- Housing (sg, hongkong not in syllabus)
- Industrial restructuring 1960s - 1980s (sg, japan not in syllabus)
- Merger n Sep ("O" 2002)
- Venice ("O" 2002)

SS suck. My batch was the first to take SS and Combined humanities. Studied it like hell. My prelims etc were pretty good but for my 'O's, none of the topics i studied came out. Somehow i manage to get a B3, probably my History pulled me up. Rumours were taht 90% failed SS in my guniea pig batch

The chapters are grouped into themes...
u need to study at least 3 themes, cause at least 1 will come out.
if u study 4 themes, then got more choice if the qns are difficult.
looking at past yr papers oso help to determine the probability of certain themes coming out.
