Remember that crazy trend during 1998, many kids was buying digimon consoles.I remembed they came in various colours and had several cute characters, i recalled bear, slug(some snail)...you could cut off a small strip of plastic and insert it in some hole at the console and make your own character.
We were not allowed to bring it to school then, i remembered rushing home like an idiot child just to clean up its virtual shit and shower it.
I also remembered sparring with other people's digimons, strangers/friends/schoolmates.
What a time worth reminiscing!

i remember $2 capsule machine also have. Got 3 buttons.. press 1st n 3rd one then can adjust the time/date...n make the monster stronger n grow faster

it startedin 1996 actually, when i was in pri 1. i remembered making lotsa friends through digimon though. lmfao, halfway through dinner, munching on my mee pok tah, and i see some kid my age neglecting his dinner. as i look closer, his head is flexioned, bent down, BUT HE ISNT SLEEPING. i placed my chopsticks and spoon neatly on my dinner bowl, and saunter across the tables, winding through the crowd of people. Finally, i arrived at my destination, and ask for a friendly battle.

The trend in 1996 was Tamagotchi.
Digimon: Digital Monsters started in 1997 but the device itself was pretty expensive so it didn't sell well.
During 1998, the price was push down to $10.00 which created a Digimon: Digital Monsters craze is Singapore. Digimon: Digital Monsters cards started releasing.
In 1999, the first Digimon: Digital Monsters anime, Digimon Adventures was released and a Digimon: Digital Monsters game for the Playstation, Digimon World was also released.
In 2000, the sequel to Digimon Adventures, Digimon Adventures 02 was released. Sometime around here, a mange with a alternate storyline consisting of Yagami Taichi and his Veedramon was released. Digimon World 2 was also released.
In 2001, the third anime for Digimon: Digital Monsters, Digimon Tamers was released. It introduced an entire new system of powering up for the Digimons whereby the Tamers would swip cards to power up their Digimon partners. This new system was later used in other anime and shows such as Masked Rider: Ryuki. Digimon Tamers wasn't a sequel of the Digimon Adventures series and its new system of powering up was uncomfortable and unrealistic to many, thus the ratings of the Digimon series started to go downhill.
In 2002, the fourth and currently the final anime series for Digimon: Digital Monsters was released, Digimon Frontier. Digimon Frontier introduced the fresh idea of humans Digivolving into Digimons using Sprits. This idea swayed even more fans away. Digimon World World 3 was also released.
Although anime series for Digimon: Digital Monsters has ended, this idea is not yet quite dead. The 8th movie for Digimon: Digital Monsters titled Digimon: X - Evolution was broadcasted this year with the DVDs releasing on 25th November 2005. Digimon World X or Digimon World 4 was released for the PlayStation 2 earlier this year. New Digimon: Digital Monsters Trading Cards are still constantly being released by Bandai, not to mention the latest Digimon: Digital Monsters Virtual Pet product called Digimon Accel. -
