Anyway, $500 can only get you a entry level bike for the "serious" biker starting out.
And no, they don't rust easily, and won't rust if maintained (unless its trash from giant supermarket.)
Some people think people who spend thousands on a bike is crazy, but the thing is that they don't understand why we spend so much on a "mere bike" and comments just start shooting....
But, spending money on a bike is better than spending hundreds every few months for a new phone right?
I paid 1.5k for my second hand bike and will use it for a few years at least....

I also use a bike, it is useful.
