If you follow the lunar calender, babies are consider 1 year old at full month then when they reach their actual b'day, they are consider 2 years old already

keep this tradition going. usually in my view is for friends and relatives to gather together to see the cutiness of the baby.

in the ancient days, due to poor sanitation and sterile environment during child delivery, there are contamination from the external environment. The umbilical cord are severed using tools that are non-sterile and increased the risk of post-delivery infections and very often the mother, the baby or both died.
In view of this, for a baby to survive up to its first month is considered a blessing and mercy from heaven and that certainly require some form of celebrations.

Hmmm... sounds logical, I mean... during the conceivement and pregnancy, it already takes up at least 40 weeks, but in the Western or Gregorian calendar, it is not counted into our age and our days in the planet is only counted after delivery, hence I think the 40 weeks needed to be counted together into our birth rights now... so by right, we are another year older just to roughly sum it up
