Stupid Internet

One day as I was surfing net, not porn, my net suddenly lost connection. Then when i reconnected, the internet icon lit up as usual and say connected at 54mbps. And my bt was also downloading.
However, when i sign in on my msn, it is unable to sign in. When i on my firefox, it says webpage not found. Same for Internet explorer. Even my irc can't detect the internet settings.
Its like my com is connected to the net but my applications simply can't detect it....
What should i do about it?
It was perfectly fine all along. I am using a wireless router btw.

yeah i got this problem too a few days back, but now my connection is running perfectly. wonder why -

It also happened to me.
One way guarantee to work: remove your network, then add it again. Then connect to your network. Should be able to connect to the Internet now.
If cannot, contact your ISP. -
They did a line upgrade but didn't informed you, or you didn't bother to check.
The last time cablevision did line upgrades in my area but didn't inform its subscribers and the old modems didn't work. They came in their mini cablevision van and replace a new modem that could work with the new lines. FOC of course. -

IT DOES NOT REPRESENT YOUR CONNECTION TO THE NET!
you can have 10000TBps connection to your router but that doesnt mean you have connection to the INTERNET.
it either means that your router has yet to connect to the internet or its having problem connecting.

Dunno about u but i also have some connection problems few days ago..... seems like reconnecting solves the problem.

I think the best option is to call Singnet. It could be your modem/router problem. Try to flash you firmwares.

Actually i also got such problem...
My internet would disconnect at random...and sometimes, it will only reconnects itself after some time...never instantanously. So sometimes chatting with ppl, if talk until important stuff and then at that point the internet disconnected, very du lan de. Call the repair guy also useless. -
targa2, i understand what u mean. U are saying that being connected to the router is not the same as being connected to the net(Thru Singnet Starhub etc.). This i agree with u. However, can u not use so much swear words everytime u post on it? Also, giv em the benefit of the doubt.....assume that they are Both connected to the router and the ISP.

Hey i encounter the exact prob as u, especially when someone accidentally switch the router off. Restarting ur computer works best, or u can try to repair the problem by right- clicking ur wireless icon on ur taskbar and choose 'repair'. sometimes i get bytes sent and no bytes received even though i'm connected..
