Orang utan causes commotion at Zoo with brief escape

SINGAPORE : An orang utan at the Singapore Zoo escaped briefly on Tuesday afternoon, inviting curious stares from visitors.
The 24-year-old female, named Medan, climbed up a tree outside her enclosure.
For some 10 minutes, she refused to come down.
That was when the zoo sealed off the area and advised visitors to stay away.
Medan, the daughter of Singapore's most famous orang utan Ah Meng, was returning to her enclosure after routine training when she veered off.
The whole incident lasted about an hour. - CNA /ct

They were in the restaurant and then the zoo ppl locked the door and not let anybody go out.
Later they realised there was an animal escape. My relatives wasted the day there being locked....hahah
In the end, they demanded for a refund. The ticketing staff still asked them whether they were local or tourist. I think they were hoping not to refund them, but extend their tickets for another visit if they are local. My relatives so angry now. Sure go back to their home country and curse one. One of them happens to be some HK journalist or something.....hahaha.
Early this year was the Jaguar escape, crocodile bite keeper and dunno what cat bite tourist. Plus this case, four times this year liao. Of course, I managed to feed all these info to my jounalist relative. (evil hor?....hahah) -
cuz a lot of ppl complaint. After the hoo har, there were crowd of ppl at the ticketing booth demanding for refund. My relatives only got admission refund, but tram cannot refund.Originally posted by Depressed...*sigh*:escape from cage also must report? -

must shut down a few parts in zoo.

Ever since the new management, there have been high frequency of such incidents. During Bernard Harrison's time, we didn't hear about crocodile biting zookeeper, animal biting tourists at the show or big cats escaping all happening within the same time.
The conclusion is : The zoo can only be run by zoology trained personnel. Managing a zoo business is not as easy as running a fast food chain. Not everybody can do a good job. -

Serval bit a tourist during the Night Safari animal show
Crocodile bit the zookeeper -- reported in Newpaper
Jaguar escaped and they have to close the zoo for a few hours for safety reasons -- reported all over the media
