Should modern armies have cavalry regiments?

  Well, as you know, in cavalry regiments, troops rode horses into the battlefield to wipe out enemy troops. I'm for it, because the horses can help troops to reach the enemy positions in a short time as they are so fast, and can travel on terrains where tanks and jeeps cannot travel through. Only problem is, there will be plenty of faeces and urine to clean up!

  If u tell me to use mules over the Hindu Kush, ok, or bicycles over the Swiss Alps...but elsewhere?

  Actually, cavalry regiments have disadvantages too. During a battle between British and German troops in World War One, a German cavalry unit was sent to fight a British platoon. Out of the original force of about 80 German cavalrymen, only 18 survived!

  it would be cool, but not practical.....maybe just include a company of them to show of at parades loh....

  Actually, in some Arab armies, there are still regiments where troops rode camels or horses!

  Maybe for special situations and special terrains......like how some countries still train pigeons to deliver letters....I guess cavalry can serve some such purpose...

  well ain't the modern version of cavalry being the armor division?
  
  and if you are using horses,won't it result in you being a super big target that is so nice to aim at for the enemies?

  the day horses become bullet-proof is the day calvary regiments will come back.

  Last time in the battle field they get people with rocket-launchers to shoot down tanks...but now we far from the battlefield sitting down on a chair drinking coffee press some buttons then launch a few rockets...morale of story sooner or later things become obsolete and new things replace them
