So far, Kimi ga Nozomu Eien(Rumbling Hearts) is my favourite. It totally sucked the life out of me for weeks. I am a sucker for love animes and sad animes. I always download their OST cuz listening to them makes me feel all poignant again!
Another anime which deserves a review is Maria Sama ga Miteru. The story takes place in a japanese all girls school, although it adopts the French "Seour" system. It's very interesting though cuz there're lots of French terms and the feeling you get from this anime is a sense of loftiness that surrounds the characters and the school. However, the plot is wholly character driven(something which I look for in animes) in which you'll see the girls struggling between their relationships and personal life and most of the time, they would just end up crying. This anime is not about lesbians mind you, except for the few overtones that suggest it. It touches on the nuances of human emotions and how girls interact in an all girls school, though I believe there're some situtations which are idealized.
Gunslinger girls is another example of a character-driven anime. There's absolutely no storyline whatsoever. Every episode shows a different scene and different pair of assassins. I love it btw, for its no bullnuts attempt on potraying how real ppl deal with each other in a real environment.
Naruto is just bullsh|t. The first half of it is good, but as the story develops, it keeps revolving around the rescue of Sasuke. I just find it too irritating and pointless to keep up as the end result would be the same: Sasuke can't be found. Bleach is not so bad but recent episodes have deterioted too, so I haven't been dling any. -

Those animes may be directed at female audiences but the fact is they do have a fair share of male fans as well.
