  Semi colon used to separate 2 independent clauses.
  
  Eg.
  
  Yummy Gummy asks funny questions; PCT answers funny questions.
  
  Usually they are related ideas.

  As far as computer language is concerned, most languages treat semi colon as a termination character of a statement. Failing to put in will result in compilation error

  I think it's possible.
  
  But always remember that the second sentence should be able to stand on its own. ie. it can be treated as a full sentence by itself. It should be an independent clause.
