i got a place in ntu for tt course nxt yr..is it gd? anybody in tt course currently?

my cousin did chemical engineering in sydney (actually she was accepted by nus also), came back straight away found a job.

So now finance and bank jobs very high demand........ later their demand not that high what are you going to do?
Don't choose your course based on demand....... demand never lasts. Choose based on interest and ability.
Anyway, if you are thinking about taking a business course instead of an engineering course, I would recommend the engineering course as a professional degree is more valuable than a general degree. -
Sounds good though... I do have intentions into going towards that path...

Hmm my fren is in that course now and seems to be very tough. Then again it if u have a genuine interest for that field of study then go for it

doesn't matter if you do chemical engineering as long as you graduate with top honours. had a friend who studied chemical engineering and ended up working in a top consultancy firm instead. if you can demonstrate a strong academic aptitude, top finance firms should have no qualms about hiring you cos they trust that you can pick up the finance skills easily.Originally posted by zhjjhz888:i scared later no jobs for chemical engineers... now those finance and bank jobs very high demand
good thing about chem engin is that you are in a specialised industry and can fall back on that if your career options in the finance industry do not materialise. -
I tend to disagree with the "top honours" part. Top honours will really matter if you are considering a job within the government sector. good thing about chem engin is that you are in a specialised industry and can fall back on that if your career options in the finance industry do not materialise.
I have a friend with 3rd class getting a job over another guy with 2nd upper just because he performed better in an interview.
As for chemical engineering.. its very engineering based with chemistry as a side focus. some chemical engineers work for petroleum companies but there are those in in the pharmaceutical and fine chemicals industry as well.
As for they do.. try to imagine Jurong Island with its gigantic plants and large chimneys. Of course, there are other things you can do besides chemical engineering
