Now winter season not really good time to go china, yes though good 3/4 star hotel is now quite cheap due to down season but transport in china is never cheap be it domestic flight bus or train.
Some more if you shop during winter season all they have on sale is winter clothing, winter clothing is useless in singapore climate.
best time to go is Oct just cool temp and not hot.

for tour? or u doing some kind of business, go there to buy some stock for ur shop? why must be direct to shenzhen? i feel that it's better to go HK first, to play and shop for few days, then go shenzhen.

Not for tour, because my friend she got travel sickness using alternate ways to go to Shen Zhen as macau or from hong kong by train or by bus, or by zuhai walk over. We are not booking a hotel there, my friend has a apartment there.
