motivation method - Rabbit and Hare

  i know of a boss who uses the "tortoise and hare" tactic to motivate his staff. I'm sure everyone's familar with that "Tortoise and hare" story. During the meeting, the staff with the most sales will get a rabbit figurine. The staff with the least sales will get a tortoise figurine. It is meant to humilate the slow performer infront of everybody. What motivation tactic is that? Just find it really childish. Any of your boss does that to motivate you?

  imo.... the ideal boss/manager shld practise this golden principle...

  it's quite shocking to hear (if i understand correctly) that the boss that you know took the "tortoise & hare" tale literally and deployed real physical figurines during sales meetings.

  the hare better don get bitten by the tortise. cos it will lose a leg where else if the hare tried to bite the tortise, the tortise gt shell to protect it.

  Its the way of telling the slower staff not to be kan cheong... quite a good tactic
