my brother's friend is a lawyer.. once, he talked in the court. bla bla bla. the judge closed his eyes.. suddenly, he said something wrong and the judge "woke up" and scolded the lawyer saying it was wrong to say so.
so yep.. they can close eyes and listen intensely one.
