Don't they realised that catching people who download illegally won't help increase the sales of the CDs/DVDs but instead it'll affect the market even greatly?
Because...
Broadband subscribers will go down...
Harddrive sales will go down... who needs such a big storage space then?
CD/DVD Writer sales will go down...
Blank CD/DVD sales will go down...
Pirated CDs sales will go up... If you ask me, I rather give my work away for free than allowing some outsiders to make a profit out of it...
And people will just ask their friends who buy original or pirated to burn for them...
Wouldn't it affect the economic... -

And whats worse... the sales of original CDs/DVDs wun increase much either...
I say keep everything the way it is...
I mean those Artiste are still earning rite? And we get our free stuff...

What you're thinking is solely at the consumer point of view.
Consider that the industry is included. there will be demand and supply.
Ideally : Zero piracy = Increase sales of legal items.
Although it might look like the industry cannot do well without consumers. But we could be wrong.
Because...
Broadband subscribers will go down...The online game users will take up the niche. Industrial eg Xbox and PSX Game servers and support will also absorb.
If there is a need, there is always supply.

The niche consumers will take it up again.
But actually the more concerned is how much will the HDD prices be like?
Since the sales will go down, less competitor brand. I predict prices will jack.
HDDs will go to industries needs.

Blank CD/DVD sales will go down...eg. Let's say, BMG recordings offers TDK media company a 1% of total profit of sales and signed a contract.
They don't need us, they need big players.
And The writers, CDroms and DVDroms prices will jack again

If you have good music and you believe it's good and you believe that the recording company will accept your works. Would you still give it away free?
If you have a business proposal which could lead to profit of millions.
Would you put it up in P2P and let the curious read and make that millions?
This is not practical.
And people will just ask their friends who buy original or pirated to burn for them...I won't ask my friends to buy and i copy from them.
But if they so happen to have it. Then i'll ask from them.
