For firewall, download ZoneAlarm. It is completely free. Be careful though, you allow the wrong application to pass through ZoneAlarm, and that's it. For free antivirus, just download AVG.

Choose at least 2. Sometimes, not all spyware scanners can catch all the spyware. In case first one did not catch, the second one will catch. -
Spyware dun block virus. To really enhance your internet sercurity go get a norton internet security (more user friendly) or alternatively u can opt for Macfee Internet Security. Then get a MS Beta Spyware, but tat only can b download if your using the orignal XP. The other one is Ad-Ware which is d/ltable... Google is your friend

No firewall = leave house door open.
And have no more than one firewall and antivirus.

XP SP2 firewall is of no use. The minute I update it to SP2 and turn off my firewall, that's it. one antivirus.. one spyware scanner.. good habits, done. -
The basic should be a firewall and anti virus.
Then go get a spyware check and remover.
Watch your surfing habits( avoid BT, P2P sharing of files, porn sites).
Regularly run anti virus test, spyware checks, and clear your cookies everyday.
That's what i think you should do. -
Install firewall: download fro zone alarm
install free antivirus that have free updates: Avast antivirus http://www.avast.com/ -

DMZ setting is when u have a router n decide whose computer is open to the internet. if u do not have a router then by default the DMZ is to u.
Basically firewall is to block data coming from certain ports.. By using Ad-ware Professional. it comes with Ad-Watch.. it does things like a firewall. but it don't block your ports.... it'll notify you what programs wanna write into your registery & blah blah blah. Nowsaday Anti-Virus etc.. Norton comes wif Worm protector and intursion detector.. so no need to worry much. Alternatively you can go to Internet Option to set your cookie to Medium-High instead of using Medium. -
Built in firewall will b good enuff to stop worms. But there r so many virus out there which usually attack your computer by e-mail or web ads when you surf their web.
