i don't go out very often nowadays, so when i run into problems i need people to tell me what's wrong or whatsoever because i find that i'm unable to be a good judge of things...
actually, i was prompted to ask this question because earlier on in the day, i came across a lady who was complaining how much she hated what she was doing, and it sounded like she was being forced with a knife to her throat.Originally posted by renorenal:...somehow this sentence of yours explains it, that you do need ppl's help in life, can't possibly live in a world of our own...
...hence at times, when we are called to do something we dun like but it's for our friend's sake, we still do it, who knows, we may need their help in the future...
...if it's in the working life, it can be quite different...
yes we do... but the fact that she still take up that thing she was doing even though compelled is her choice that she made... she could have not accepted it, even though compelled, but she didn't...Originally posted by MooKu:actually, i was prompted to ask this question because earlier on in the day, i came across a lady who was complaining how much she hated what she was doing, and it sounded like she was being forced with a knife to her throat.
we have choices, don't we?
she made it sound like she didn't have a choice, when actually choices were available.. i thought if she really didn't like it, she should look for an alternative or stop complaining. i couldn't understand... so i'm hoping people can give me some fresh insight.Originally posted by renorenal:yes we do... but the fact that she still take up that thing she was doing even though compelled is her choice that she made... she could have not accepted it, even though compelled, but she didn't...
...maybe she has something planned up before, something she want to make it big in the future, hence signing up for a job or certain stuffs that she believes will meet her target.Originally posted by MooKu:she made it sound like she didn't have a choice, when actually choices were available.. i thought if she really didn't like it, she should look for an alternative or stop complaining. i couldn't understand... so i'm hoping people can give me some fresh insight.like... i don't know. anything. :\
...that's why there are a lot of ppl around you, they are there to hold your hands when you fall, it's not a matter of choices, it's more of like what you would do to reach a certain goal...Originally posted by MooKu:mmmm i see...
maybe i was especially affected by her whining because she said i was spoilt because i've never done things i dislike... lately been very touchy towards comments like these... because i'm seeing more and more how much i can't do things on my own....
I consider myself extremely fortunate because whereever I go there's always at least one person to help me when I'm in trouble, or someone to pick up after me, or someone who makes sure I'm safe. I never thought much about standing entirely on my own feet until recently... so I worry about what if one day there isn't anyone there? and why am I still so like that at my age...Originally posted by renorenal:...that's why there are a lot of ppl around you, they are there to hold your hands when you fall, it's not a matter of choices, it's more of like what you would do to reach a certain goal...
...some ppl consider all the possibilities before entering into a certain course to achieve their target, and their scrutiny is rewarded later on, hence facing lesser obstacles...
...some ppl may be too nervous and steps into certain things very fast without taking some time to discuss the probability of task at hand, hence venturing into a world of the unknown...
...whatever it is, we did make our choice earlier on, it's just that, whether can we tolerate with what we have chosen?
...we learn best when we are on our very own, before you know it, our survival instinct will take over our conscious drive and help us do the things necessary to get us out of problems...Originally posted by MooKu:I consider myself extremely fortunate because whereever I go there's always at least one person to help me when I'm in trouble, or someone to pick up after me, or someone who makes sure I'm safe. the pianist that escaped NS and come back later.Originally posted by ShutterBug:Here's a fine example of your question:
1) a pianist who was formally taught music and practical piano at an early age because his/her parents wants him/her to musically involved
2) a pianist who had no formal training in music theory or practical piano, and who plays EVERYTHING by ear, and who is a drop out in school because of his passion in music
Which of the above, will play or perform well in a concert, or as a professional pianist/musician?
