TCS..television for chinese singaporeans?

I just wonder, do you feel singaporean tv reflects the multiracial and multilingual equality that the gahmen harps on? Why is it that it is obvious that Chinese based channels are getting all the money and being expanded on the most? Should we not focus on the english channels to cater for all the races of singapore?
Channel 5 has one singapore idol in two years, and i cannot start to count the number of talent shows they have in the chinese channels, and to make things worst, the chinese talent shows seek contestants from not just singapore but other countries. Hence, the comeptition is not a showcase of local talent but merely a mean of further developing chinese television in singapore.
Channel 5 has seen its "stars", crap as they are moving on to do chinese shows and such, shouldn't more effort be put in to improve english programming and artistes instead on spending more money and expanding to two dedicated chinese entertainment channels vs 1 english channel.
Last i checked, the tax for radio and television was equal across the racial and languages strata, show why the imbalance?Why can't channel 5 get more sultry fiona xie types, with better acting abilities, and spend less time and money on developing the already way superior chinese channels? -

We are not in Suzhou dear boy, so it wouldn't exactly be the ideal scenario to have only developed Chinese TV channels. In case, you may not have realised, some people do not speak or understand mandarin. Do you need a sarcasm-meter?

yea, can watch but still..the fact is that there seems to be continual improvement of the chinese channels, what the hell is the channel 5 people doing? and well..what is mediacorp doing to improve the situation? If they wanna like this, then might as well make everyone learn mandarin , then can watch tv without reading subtitles, and wah lau even channel 5 got chinese ads all,only lately also then malay and indians one are aired, just for balance sake.

Because channel 5 cant compete with other channels eg HBO, Star Movies. It cant even compete with Hallmark, AXN. All the shows they shown us are so outdated that you will surely have watched them in cable tv already.
Plus, even if they produce local english dramas and sitcoms, the show will still get slammed most of the time so basically channel 5 is just there for the sake of it only. -
