About the Sunday Times article by Ignatius Low on whether Annabel Chong is a national hero, anybody has any idea what happened to her? Her website says she's a web designers now, but also heard she got married to some ang moh and had a baby girl??
she tried to do an elephant and died trying.
national hero?
those whom think that way should get someone at home to beat her record.
Seriously. Do you care?
Obviously she's succeeded in seeking people's attention.
I really wonder why some people risk limb and life just to accomplish things like climb Mt Everest, swim English channel, walk across South Pole and worst of all open shop for a lot of ang-mohs to enter. Don't think ordinary Singaporeans feel any connection to them.
Obviously trying to seek attention. I don't see how such personal achievements bring glory to the nation, so I don't think such acts should be elevated to "national heroism".
If it was for charity, then at least it does some good. But if it is just a personal challenge, then sorry, don't see why Singapore should support or sponsor with all the resources, better spent elsewhere.
If you are rich like Richard Branson, sure go do all the crazy things you like, but if you are not loaded, please don't do stupid things in the name of our country.
The way I see it, National Day Parade participants are more glorious than these individuals!
