i overheard a conversation between two men in their late 50s, at the ntuc yesterday.
this is what they said.
old man 1, "my wife asked me to buy maling luncheon meat. which one is it?"
old man 2, "there are a few brands here, just take one lah."
old man 1, "cannnot, cannot!!! must be ma ling brand. otherwise there will be hell to pay."
old man 2, "hahahahaha."
old man 1 continues to say. "when women give you instructions you better follow it."
both men walked away laughing heartily. i couldnt help laughing too. -

I don't see this as a gender thing. It's easy for members of the family to just eat nice food off the table but never realise there's alot of thought involved and choices made when it comes to buying and preparing the food.
Why insist on a particular brand? Maybe it's because that's the only brand everyone likes! -

Errr... requests and instructions are very different terminology. Request is like asking for a favor whereas instructions are mandatory items that need to be carried out else face puishment ala SAF lifestyle.
In this case, I think the wife make an instruction to the hubby NOT request -
