Which ship is the best ship ever made in the 20th Century?

  I think it is the Titanic, built in the year 1911 and sunk in 14 April 1912. It was the biggest ship afloat at that time and also the most luxurious! In fact it is so regal, some companies like the Vinolia Otto Soap Company were proud to announce that they supplied the ship with certain stuff! It's name, Royal Mail Ship Titanic, really suited it well!

  I suggest another sunken ship, the Bismarck, a German warship of WWII, the most feared of its kind in those days, sunk by the Royal Navy after a very long and inttriguing chase.

  saw a documentry a year back. they are building another ship even bigger and better than the Titanic. no news of it till now. It seems they are using the structure of Titanic as an example for the new one

  Titanic sank because it hit an iceberg. It has nothing to do with how the ship was structured or built.

  Here's an interesting point:
  
  IJN Yamato and Musashi (sister ships) were the largest surface ships of their time.
  
  Musashi, sunk prior to the battle of Leyte Gulf, absorbed 20 Torpedoes and 17 bombs before sinking...
  
  Yamato, sent on a suicide mission sometime during the battle of Okinawa, took 23 bombs and a sizable number of torpedoes before going down.
  
  That marked the end for the giants; Iowa class battle ships remained the largest gun platforms to remain in service after the war.
  
  Best ship? I'd say the 688 class SSN hunter-killers.
