she is one of the few that can really do us proud.

We need more physically and mentally strong sportsmen and sportswomen who fear no factor, can really kick ass, blow the competition away and smash game records.
I hope they become our future coaching leaders developing and leading the next gen, not some frail, medalless "scholar" or minister.

This is a very interesting site. Lots of topics to discuss. Want to share this one on Sportmen/women or maybe it should be called Adventurer.
We have on guy who came and became a S'porean. He was a full-time Adventurer. Salary paid by the taxpayers of course.
He went to conquer Mt Everest on 2 or 3 occasions but failed. Did not make it up there. Cited temperature and oxyegn problems. Our very own NUS team made it and they are full-time students.
Wanted to swim across the English channel after one of our very own Sg boy did it. Failed again gave up half way.
Jocelyn is definitely a S'pore Heroine. She will be crowned the Greatest SEA Sportswoman with 40 gold medals in all to her name...
Waterpolo too is good too. Clean sweep since the very 1st game.

What about the English Channel? After a former ACS boy did it, he also wanted to try. But unsuccessful. Mind you, he's a paid full-time adventurer. Compared to amateurs, not very glorious right? -

She is also a descendant of foreigners. Just like most of the people in Singapore. -

Guess Singapore might rank No1 in terms of no. of medals/population. Small country like Singapore competes with populous countries in the region. PHILIPPINES has got 20 times more in population than S'pore. Yet, they only competes with reasonal dominance..
