29-year-old man drowns at Siloso Beach on Sentosa

SINGAPORE: A 29-year-old Chinese national, here on a work permit, has drowned at Siloso Beach on Sentosa island on Friday.
Clad in a pair of swim shorts, the man was believed to have gone swimming with a few of his friends but went missing around 3.30pm.
His body was later recovered from the sea by a lifeguard and a friend.
He was pronounced dead at about 4pm.
Police have classified the case as unnatural death.
Police say the victim cannot be named because the next of kin has not been informed.
It is the fifth drowning this year on Sentosa.
Last year, 46 people drowned in Singapore, two of who were on Sentosa. - CNA/ir -

Many people were taken onto boats by Japs and then shot and thrown into the sea off Pulau Blakang Mati, now called Sentosa, in Feb 1942.
Some bodies were washed to shore and buried by British soldiers still hiding on the island. (near the golf course)
A few years ago, more than 20 skeletons were found under the sand on the island..........police believe they were murder victims. The case remained unsolved.

Ever wonder why the island was called "back-death" by the Orang laut?
In 1942, the Japs killed people off Tanjong Pagar Dock. Some skeletons were found on the Coralrium (sp?) which is on the eastern side. Now that place they want to build condos. Who dare to stay there? -

So many tragic case happen there over the last decade and people still keep going to swim there. When will people learn?
