Creativeness crashes with academic?

i wanted to go for an interview for design courses.on the web,they wrote "we need creative ppl"....but i called,they told me to bring my report book,portfolio.
yes,i have portfolio...but report books,my results arent good.i felt shagged,if i were to let them sees my report book,tat would meant less chance.does creativesness,passion for design gt to do with academic results?i dont understands this,how about famous designers overseas who din nt have education before?does creativeness coordinates with academic?pissed- -
No. Yong children can't write novels but their creativeness inspired some inventors to create a certain invention.

adoii... u have not even gone for the interview & confidence shattered by mere mention of rept book requirement?
don worry... most likely they'll look more at your portfolio rather than rept book results. rept book prob for formality niah.

hopefully.the 1st call i received,they requires ic,portfolio only.but today they called,and said they needed report book.damn scared.cos i din do well for my prelims...and my pass results are shits.

The focus is on your portfolio, so if your portfolio is good, it should be alright.
The report book is a guide for them. Your teacher have probably written remarks that you are creative, so if your portfolio is creative, and teachers have written about your creativity in your report book. -

speaking about remarks,my school is quite bias,my teacher din writes about creativeness or stuffs,but onli wrote"he had to wrk harder for prelims etc"...and while other sch wanted their students to do well,they gave them testimony,well,other sch gave onli to the top students.btw...thnks guys for encouragements...

Well a graphic designer in a design house also needs to be a good team player... just being creative is not good enough.
Besides that, discipline is important too - you MUST meet your deadlines and deadlines are DAMN important in this line
Your report book can give some indication of your personality, your other achievements besides your academic results.
Confidence too plays a great part. If you dont have confidence, and every single criticism from a client is going to make you feel that the client doesn't appreciate your creativity, then graphic design is not your field. You will end up needing to see a therapist. -

Speaking of academic results, they do matter to a certain degree.
For instance, they would surely want to hire an employee who at the very least know that the noun form of creative is "creativity," as opposed to "creativeness." -
not necessarily. Lots of very creative designers I know can't speak English very well. They do, however, need a couple more qualities than just being creative or 'can draw well'. Artistic temperaments... doesn't really help.

just go for the interview with an open heart and mind.
Li KaShing don't have a degree and yet he is one of the riches man in Asia. I am sure u can find similar famous analogies in your area of art. Let them inspire you! -

Don't be afraid, just give what they want. And you can try again later when you get your actual results.
