Hi.. you all
I would like to bring your attention to a very scary Trojan, which infected my PC [b]7 times already while serving many forums in just one day. Anti-Virus software don't seemed to be able to stop or detected at all, can't even scan for it. Had to use Anti-spyware to sniff it out, don't even know your are infected.
Trojan.StartPage.Gen
Only tell tale sign is when you are directed to another site, if your computer security is low or you are not using a good malware.
I could not log into those forums. Which made me curious. I checked my firewall and found nothing wrong. I then Disable it .. also nothing wrong. But when I disable all my anti-spyware programs, only then I was directed to other advertising sites.
I usually gets it when I tried to login into forums. What it does, is it embedds five entries into your computer registry, whether you have an active anti-virus or anti-spyware program.. don't seemed to stop it.
Later, I found out that even downloading videos file, also will get infected
BTW.. the free Ad-aware anti-spyware program don't work.\
So guys.. just giving you a heads up..
take care.

Highlighted in blue: How many antivirus did you install? Installing more than one will cause instability.Originally posted by MobyDog:First and foremost, I did not disable any security software and i have a firewall and anti-virus running. I disable it to determine the source of that problem. As I say, my updated active anti-virus did not detect it... neither did Norton 2005. Btw there are many version to this trojan. There is no way to stop the trojan, as later some googling reviewed. It was not even listed in some viruslist of some popular anti-virus program.. including norton.
Only my anti-malware program did detect and delete it. My dll was not compromised.
Finally, I got the virus while login in to a foreign Forum. Only login in, was it invited in. Two forums was where I have identified the source, they were using the same Forum software. So I guess the software they used has a security flaw.
As I say, U wouln't even know you're infected with all the security software you may have, because they won't allow it to activate. But it's a dame troublesome problem, if you don't solve it in time comes.
I also was infected once while opening a video file in zip format. So anti-virus mjost likely won't detect it also.
Highlighted in blue: How many antivirus did you install? Installing more than one will cause instability.Blue point : I used only one.. then install a free one to double check. Then still not satisfied, used a online scan some more.
Highlighted in red: The viruses are on the list, only that they have very different names for different antivirus vendors. Read through the encylopedia carefully and you will find it.
Highlighted in green: How did you know that these forums used the same software? I have a feeling you did illegal things to find out.
Then, you really can do nothing about it but reformat. Reformat typically wipes out everything unless that virus is memory ressident.......Originally posted by MobyDog:Blue point : I used only one.. then install a free one to double check. Then still not satisfied, used a online scan some more.
Red point : probably right...
Green Point : The outlook and function of the forum says it all.

Memory ressident viruses Just reset your CMOS. I don't quite know how to reset the CMOS, so cannot help.
