never mind about this ah beng flyer....
what i want to say is as i am selling my flat, i notice there are alot of flyers i receive in my mail box.....all about showing interest to buy flats around my areas and give me all sort of reason why...eg just divorce need a flat near parents' place, just enrol nearby school ....or just sell away the flat need to buy flat around my area etc etc.....but when i call them, all not true...
this is one of the trick the housing agent are using to find seller, or so call their 'product' so that they can sell for them....and actually they don have buyer...worse of all, i call Mrs Lam or Mr Tan as stated in the flyers in the end is the agent that pick up the phone,.........i was told by my friend that it is a 'marketing tool'...
i wonder i am going to find a flat around my mom place. if i do the same, how many people will believe that i am seriously looking for a flat near my mom place....hai -

This tactic is used mainly by new agents who doesn't want to invest too heftily in printing colored flyers or to identify themselves as agents (These agents are what we call 'secret agents'). Usually experienced agents would print a lot of coloured flyers and distribute them in letter boxes. The newbies would want to penetrate the market and they thought owners would be tricked into thinking that they are buyers and call them so that they would be able to get listings.
Buyers would not spend time, money and effort in printing 'ah beng' flyers. In reality, buyers don't mind spending a little money to look for an agent to serve them. Save them a lot of hassle from having to print pieces of paper and distribute them to letter boxes. (a lot of work involved).
Also, you'll realise that the wordings of the 'ah beng' flyers are similar. This is because agents borrow ideas from others and then make some changes and print their own. Usually would be 'willing to pay $20,000 to $40,000 cash', divorce cases - needing a place to stay with parents, moving near parents to take care of kids, just sold their property & finding a place to stay,
This method works best on HDB dwellers to get them to sell.

Told my hubby that which idiot buyer will say upfront how much more they are willing to pay and that they chiak ba nothing better to do, write so many flyers and walk around to distribute. -

Ah Beng Flyer
1) A Chinese Male Passenger (usually Singaporean) riding in a comercial Airplane with bad manners such as picking his nose openly, spitting on the airplane's floor, making kissing sounds at Stewardess as they walk by and propping their feet on the their seat's foldable table. An Ah Beng Flyer's female counterpart is known as an Ah Lian Flyer.
Example of usage: "Look at that man squatting on his seat and talking on his mobile phone loudly in the Business Class! Wad a typical Ah Beng Flyer! "
2) A Chinese Singaporean (aged between 18 to 40 years old ) who drives a Japanese Sports car(usually a Honda Civic or a WRX STi ) and wrecked his car after getting involved in an accident which caused the vehicle to be airborne for a short period of time. An Ah Beng Flyer above the age of 40 is known as a Lau Beng Flyer or Lau Hero.
Example of usage: " Look at that koyak (badly wrecked) WRX at the bottom of the overhead Expressway! I bet it must be driven by an Ah Beng Flyer!
