To learn chinese, you need to know your hanyu pinyin well. Hanyu pinyin teaches you how to pronounce the chinese words. -

Once you master the basics, Chinese is actually easy. well.. at least it is so for singaporean chinese. or else we will fail our mother tongue language in primary and secondary school. -
as long as im not required to write it, im ok with chinese.
