Aishwarya inspires Barbie

The dolls, based on the looks and costumes of the doe-eyed beauty, have been imported to the UK from India by Sai Mir, Managing Director of Mir Media, a noted design house in Britain.
“Aishwarya and all her outfits were a major inspiration for modelling these dolls. A lot of it comes from her film Devdas, where she looked mind-blowing,” said Mir.
Incidentally, Rai recently featured ninth in the poll of the 100 most beautiful women of today, which appeared in the July issue of Harpers and Queen.
Aishwarya was also honoured last month by the Netherlands, which named a special variety of the tulip flower after her.
“We have used Bollywood, and India’s rich cultural heritage, to put a lot of intricate detail into these dolls’ costumes, using silks, embroidery and jewellery,” added Mir.
The Indian Barbie collection features looks and costumes from all corners of the country. There is also an Indian diva collection, dressed in the latest ethnic kurtas.
Mir also said that this new range will help young Asian girls adopt their culture and heritage in ways that the original blond-haired and blue-eyed creation could never do.
