Hello pal, there's no need for s'poreans to give up chinese totally, to me it's just for communication purposes. I don't see what's wrong with communicating with the Chinese. I think you are wrong about not many countries learn Chinese. Chinese history is fascinating and very interesting to them. Chinese history stretches for more than 5000 years. The culture is rich and diverse due to the different dynasties.
By the way, Chinese history is interesting to me. I have a group of friends who also share the same interest in learning more about Chinese, their history and culture.
China may not need Singapore, but Singapore needs China and other countries to survive. If you study our history well, we survive mainly on entrepot trade, which means we need to communicate well. The fact that we did not rely on entrepot trade alone to survive is to prevent us from falling. If the entrepot trade area gets too competitive, and Singapore is not surviving well, we have the other areas to support us. -

Can you tell a US or UK citizen not to learn English but Spanish or some other languages? It is ridiculous. -
