  Who started this Opium strategy to conquer?
  What happened to the conquerer?

  got... Brits fight with China in 19th century cos China tried to stop them from selling lots of opium to Chinese. in fact there were 2 opium wars not one.

  what caused opium war is greed. China dosent want open up its doors to trade. So the ang moh decide weaken china by getting ppl high on opium n degrade the society.
  
  this cause internal probs for china, n the ang moh play the 'helpful' peacekeeper n 'invade' china to 'stop' these probs.

  British were doing a roaring trade with China before 1st opium war.
  
  The problem was that while the trade in Chinese exports (the produce of China) was very good, there was nothing that the British could sell back to the Chinese which the Chinese were interested in. for a while the British had to use silver for this until they almost mined their country bare of the metal. then they realised the narcotic properties of opium could make it an ideal good which the Chinese would not lose "interest" in.

  not so fast... the wuchang uprising which overturned the Qing dynasty for good happened only in 1911. the 2nd opium war ended in 1860.
  
  but the wars did get China neck-deep in reparations to be paid to the westerners. 2nd opium war had china's reparations to france and UK increased to 8 million taels of silver. it made china distrust the west, which is still sort of true even today. and last but not least, it was made clear and evident that the Qing dynasty couldn't withstand the onslaught of western forces.
