Anyone using DVD Recorders or HDD+DVD Recorders?

  Anyone using DVD Recorders or HDD +DVD Recorders? I am currently considering getting a HDD+DVD Recorder. 80GB would do, but I would prefer a model which is region-free (i.e. can play all codes of DVDs). My budget is preferably below $900. Anyone care to assist in answer the following?
  
  1) Which brand and model you are using and whether it has been good?
  
  2) Which model allow playing of all codes of DVDs?
  
  3) Which model is the most user-friendly?
