Is it appropriate to wear a business suit to a weddingdinner

  Would it outshine the groom? If i don't wear a business suit , would it appear less respectful for the groom's family? No crap replies please .

  depends on how formal is the dinner
  though for most i think the shirt/pants/tie is enough
  without the jacket
