Ulead media studio? I haven tried it before though. A pre-installed program in Windows that can do video editing is Windows Movie Maker. But it can only export the video in WMV or AVI format.
Of course, the ultimate video editing software and machine is iMovie, or for advanced users, Final Cut, both softwares on Macintosh system

I'm in video editing department in my CCA and I always use Apple's Final Cut Pro HD for video editing.
The most I video edit on Windows is a 2min video consisting of ONLY pictures and text. Took me 3 hangs and the whole afternoon to finish it. NEVER use Windows Movie Maker... Hell...
Basically, you import the video files (as long as the video editing software supports the video format, avi is rather common so should be no prob with most programs) and arrange them on a timeline format. When you have finish editing the footages, whether you slice and delete any parts, slowing down/speeding up, transitions, just export the video out into the format you want.
