m'sia using 1-dollar note cos it works like a 2-dollar note in their country. like, the lrt, the fare is rm1.20, rm1.60 and rm2.10. the machines will gladly accept just one 1-dollar note and coins. same with drinks and stuff.
in singapore context, $1 can't really do you much so we have $2 notes instead. a sign of inflation, u noe. -

most of the cash that people carry these days are $50, $10 & $2.

We should be lucky the singapore mint does not issue coins the weight of the Australian 50 cent coin. But I like the jingle and weight of the $2 ones.

a lot of bus drivers/taxi drivers put $1 coins near the speedometer leh sometimes.

No need for $1 notes if you already have got $2 notes...that's what i think.
Unless, you wanna do away with the 2 dollar notes and go with 2 dollar coins.
