Have ur sg life really improved since the '90s?

  I dont see any sign of it. all i presume is just inflation What do we have now that we did not have in the 90s?
  
  1) internet - was already available in singapore in earlier part of 90s thru the old 33.6 kpbs dialup singnet. Magix broadband came about in 1997 and already offering movies
  
  2) tertiary education - 4 polys and 2 unis were already around have already opened since the 90s the last being NYP first opened in 1992 before moving to its new full time campus in 1998 in Ang Mo Kio,
  
  3) DVD - First appeared as panasonic DVD player in 1997.
  
  4) cineplexes - GV cineplex first opened in 1993
  
  5) Boat quay clubbing scene - around since 1991
  
  has our life really improved now? On the contrary i think it is declining.

  hard to say. i hardly recall my life before the 90s.

  though the pple in the past had their problems to deal wif...we,of the present,have troubles to cope wif as well..

  what is ur age now?
  
  many agree it was the golden age of singapore. Hawker drive merc. U can buy and sell property for a profit without levy. afford to drop out after Os to find work.
  some things like elctronics are cheaper now for eample comps. But taxes have gone up which bring u to even sticky situation. goods were expensive back in 90s but If u dunt like it, u dont purchase it. generally cost of living was reasonable.
  
  Degree grad had a high starting salar like close to 2.2k. Currently is is only
  1.8K. A level grads were 1.1k in 1991.

  u see i asked for ur age is because if u were a kid, u will not recall. But as a teen or adult u may better be able to give a well balanced view.
  
  according to me, things are getting harder now as i have lived thru that period of time, i know the difference better than a kid who has not started his life.

  has things really improved since the middle ages?
  
  1) we had food then, we have food now.
  
  2) we had incurable diseases then, we have incurable diseases now.

  I think life is pretty much the same. It just seems to be on the decline due to increased competition

  I think we can't see the improvements in our life by looking at things n inventions around...
  Last time only got walkman/cassette player, then got discman.. now got MP3 players.. the things are getting easier n easier for anybody to listen to songs.. but still a lot of ppl not satisfied... So are VHS cassette player to VCD to DVD players n other tech things... new n newer computer n software also coming out.. But still.. new things sometimes bring out new demand of other things to use.. like we need more money to buy more MP3 to fill the 5-10 GB ipod.. Computer get spoiled n viruses easier than last time...When we think about it: Are we really better n happier with more songs/movie or new clothing collections? Mostly not for long term......but It is, if temporary..
