Why ar? S'pore countdown so much...

  I come across my mind on why s'pore likes to countdown things so much, like countdown Christmas and New Year. Why dont they countdown like, Valentine's Day, National Day, Hallowen Day, Hari Raya or even Racial Harmony Day?
