Birds caused the deafeat of alien in War of the Worlds?

  At one point near the end, Cruise pointed out to the army personnel about the birds on the tripods.
  
  I scratched my head and tried to figure out. Tehe narrator explains that micro-organisms and virus caused their defeat in the end. Does it means that bird fecaes is what led to death of the alien invaders?
  
  It means the Avian flu can be used on them if aliens were ever to invade earth?

  Any way, I remmebered a bit about that.
  
  They were trying to tell us that we humans have lived in this world for many thousands of years & of coz adapted to this 'unclean' / virus thing. We got immune liao. 'They' alien just came in to our world trying to conqure it, but they dont have the immune thing. The show, or rather the story book is trying to tell us that those alien has destined to fail in the first place.

  You dun get it??? He pointed to the birds flying just above the tripods to show that the sheilds on those machines are not working. Otherwise how can the birds get so near?

  Germs are everywhere in the air but we human was already immune to the germs and virus but the alien's body can't fight against the germs and virus thats why they failed.
