my cd drive cant read (some) discs!

ok i bought the series wu long tian zi.
28 discs.
each discs has 2 epi.
first 8 discs can play smoothly.
disc 9 come out error say 2nd epi cant play due to codec error.
same for disc 10.
disc11 nightmare come liao. totally cant read. CD drive says.
Please insert a disc into Drive E.
however there is a disc inside already.
same went on for the rest of the 28 discs. only a few can be played on my laptop.
however when i went to try on my friend's desktop and vcd player. all if not most of the discs are able to run normally!
and it is not like if i put in Disc 11 , then i change back to 1, i cant play it.
even if i were to play 11,12,13 and change back to 1, 1 still works! but once i use 11 again, it does not read the cd. and this is the original series bought from TS group.
previously some of my other discs it also has problems reading it. but after a few eject insert eject insert it will finally read the discs. but this series doesnt work with this method...
it seems like my there a few possibilities.
1) driver spoil or corrupted
2) cd drive spoil
3) lens dirty
4) i dont know liao.
so i went to clean my driver using the cleaning disc.
as for the driver problem, i cant find the latest update. so i didnt touch it.
is there any advice for me to fix my cd drive?

If it is still covered by warranty, get the drive changed. Clean lens, update driver are possible temporary solutions. It appears that your CD drive is spoiled. Any weird sounds when reading discs?

ya. quite some weird noise. take damn long to read. sometimes cant even read.
i bought this vcd. so want to check to make sure none of the disc spoilt. thats why i dont want to send drive for repair yet.

Try the discs you have on another PC! Ask your friend, your neighbor, your whoever. Just try it on other PC with CDROM drive. If it runs then it is as follows:
1) CDROM faulty
2) Corrupted Windows -
Different brand of cd-rom will not read or write as well as others.

have warranty, then change the whole Drive.
Last time my CD drive sometimesa can read, sometimes cannot read, i declared it spoilt, and went to repair it. Same for keyboard. ONe key spoil, change. -
ya spolit is spolit. but they will take go IBM there to repair then must wait for a few days to collect again. so sian...

it died before i let it work 8 discs...haha. and this is normal la. i normally 1 time pia many discs de
