Was chit-chatting with a frien a few days ago about corpse and such.
I wonder if any of the younger generations would consider jobs as such ? would anyone ? How is the pay like I wonder ? And, how to be qualified ?

I think the pay should be quite good since very few ppl interested. From what I heard clean up a corpse usually can command range of 200 - 300? It is not an easy job cuz you gotta clean the corpse first before trying to put make up on. Worst is the dead is involved in accidents and the face is scarred and you gotta somehow cover up the flaws.
Say 1 day about 10 ppl die and if you got contact to do say 2 - 3. So total up one month is quite a lot of money. But some superstitious ppl dun like to earn money from dead saying no good etc etc rumors.

Most morticians actually do quite a bad job.. Too much powder and wax, making the dead bodies look damn scary. Many corpses actually look like wax figurines, yikes...
Quite a gruesome job also lah, need to drain the dead bodies of blood first then pump in all the formalin and stuff. And i bet most of the bodies would be decomposing by the time they reach the embalmer. -
think of it as a very valuable service really. If no one did this, u had to say, DIY when any relatives or friends(touch wood) die, I doubt they'd look half as good during their funeral, and I think u honestly would not want to see yr recently departed loved one in a state less ideal than u would like to remember them.Originally posted by sohguanh:But does she get dreams of those departed she had put makeup on? i believed we must always respect my friend's job, she always make sure she clean up b4 leaving her lab.. whatever she did in the lab is none of our concern or else we might become scare of her too..

I just asked a friend of mine, she is a staff nurse at a hospital, and her hushband's bro is in the casket biz. she said, that its quite in demand. the job. and pay quite good. 1mth can earn up to 5k.
