You training to be a weightlifter or bodybuilder? What is the size of your biceps in inches?Originally posted by Marco_Simone:I don't know how much I can curl coz I have not done it for a long long time...
My guns are 16in.Originally posted by Theballstopshere:You training to be a weightlifter or bodybuilder? What is the size of your biceps in inches?
Biceps curl is a basic mass building exercise for biceps...Originally posted by Marco_Simone:My guns are 16in.
My aim in pumping iron is not to show off to people, but to exceed my personal best every few sessions.I train for FUNCTIONAL strength not nice looking muscles.Hence I don't give a damm about having a 6 pack coz having that would make me much weaker in some of the lifts.A 2 pack which I am having now is good enough.
Of course when you train heavy, you WILL have some decent curves. But I look more like a swimmer than a powerlifter coz I'm tall with long limbs.
I don't do isolation exercises such as curls hence I don't know how much I can curl.
I only do heavy compound movements.
Last workout on Fri,I did rack pulls-8 reps of 120kg.
Chin ups work the biceps even more+you work your back too.Originally posted by Simple_Bear:Biceps curl is a basic mass building exercise for biceps...
It cant be considered as an isolation exercise...![]()

Yes I know chin ups works biceps more than you work your back but it all depends on hw U do tt exercise.Originally posted by Marco_Simone:Chin ups work the biceps even more+you work your back too.
So which is the more bang for the buck?
Anyway, share with you all my workout routine.Pretty old school stuff.
Workout A(each exercise 4 sets)
Squats
bent over rows
incline presses
upright rows
Workout B(each exercise 4 sets)
rack pulls
close grip bench presses
chin ups
military presses
Yes,for my chins,I use my biceps more and my lats less and I am conscious of this.In fact I want this to happen because chins is in Workout B and that is my arms workout.(Notice I use close grip bench presses also in Workout B-they are for my tris and the rack pulls are for my forearms.)Originally posted by Simple_Bear:Yes I know chin ups works biceps more than you work your back but it all depends on hw U do tt exercise.
1st for chin ups, ppl often pull them up by using their biceps more than their lats, actually for chin ups at the height of the exercise, you shld be pushing Ur shoulder blades together towards your body and 'pushing' Urself down so as to involve the lats more.![]()

Everyone haf their own style of training if tt works for U then continue with it, I am juz saying maybe by adding a few sets of biceps curls, it may be better for Ur biceps...Originally posted by Marco_Simone:Yes,for my chins,I use my biceps more and my lats less and I am conscious of this.In fact I want this to happen because chins is in Workout B and that is my arms workout.(Notice I use close grip bench presses also in Workout B-they are for my tris and the rack pulls are for my forearms.)
