i dunno, maybe activate reserve buses? are there any reserve buses in available depots?Originally posted by wuming78:hm.. bridging services.. isn't this ex supposed to be as real as possible? in times of a REAL attack, would SBS be able to come out with such services immediately to "minimise inconveniences to commuters"???![]()
I don't mean to belittle this exercise.Originally posted by sbst275:If whoever thinks it is a big show, wait till a real explosion happens and you say it is a big show

Because a big show is what it really is!Originally posted by sbst275:If whoever thinks it is a big show, wait till a real explosion happens and you say it is a big show
Minus the fact the leaders all knew abt the execise and exact timing and location, we as just normal citizens should just do our part and when in any real bombings, we know how to deal with itOriginally posted by cornyfish2000:Because a big show is what it really is!
It is all perfectly choreographed and planned beforehand -> PM Lee and DPM Wong Kan Seng will be visiting the 'scene of explosion' at Dhoby Ghaut, DPM Jayakumar will be visiting Toa Payoh. Later in the afternoon, HealthMinister Khaw Boon Wan will be visiting the 'casualties' in SGH.
Anyway the 'casualties' will all be taken to SGH A&E, as well as 2 polyclinics. All the staff there have been primed beforehand.. there is nothing spontaneous about the whole thing at all.
As someone mentioned earlier, it is more to boost public confidence than anything else.
No lah...its something like in your school, there is the fire-drill but no real fire right?Originally posted by Ponders:I don't mean to belittle this exercise.
but knowing how such exercises are prepared, its prepared with a expected timeframe of when the "exercise" will happen.
I mean, its right to tell the public when an exercise will happen so they will not be alarmed.
But i don't think the emergency services should have advanced notice like, "its going to happen sometime tomorrow", or "get ready all equipment, it's happening in next 24 hours"
it should be as ad-hoc as possible. They shouldn't have stand by at the train stations but rather should be doing what they have been doing on a lazy sunday like today.
Not quite, in real bombings, public transport may be needed to top up as temporary ambulances and bring people to safe locations.Originally posted by SBS9828X:aiyaa in real terrorist bombings, u think how will buses maneouver to bridge stations? wat a joke
At least in some school, when they tell you there is a firedrill, it will be a suddent announcement like "fire now!"Originally posted by nightzip:No lah...its something like in your school, there is the fire-drill but no real fire right?
And in military exercise, no real enemy then not realistic mah?
The GREAT idea is to TIE down those important things, as in what should be done in emergencies like this. They already say liao in the news, they dont want unpreparedness like london bomb blast.
They want to tie down SOP procedures and try out the procedures to see what is lacking or what can be improved, so that if something REALLY happens, they know what to do lah...
So for this type of exercise, realism is secondary BUT need to be considered. But the public should also take this chance to know whats going on so as to deal with it (as in knowing what are the steps) should such things happend.
heheh...but nearly all schools will inform the students or teachers, like 1-2 weeks before...saying that we will be having a fire drill sometime next week...etc etc... please go and see the fire drill evacuation plan so can be fast etc etc?Originally posted by Ponders:At least in some school, when they tell you there is a firedrill, it will be a suddent announcement like "fire now!"
It's not like, "we are going to have a fire drill in 5 mins, so fall in nicely in neat rows in 5 mins".
Because for northstar, the latter seems to be the case.
exactly.Originally posted by nightzip:Not quite, in real bombings, public transport may be needed to top up as temporary ambulances and bring people to safe locations.![]()
As far as my ex-school is concerned. Only the teachers get advanced warning. Which brings out a weird situation.Originally posted by nightzip:heheh...but nearly all schools will inform the students or teachers, like 1-2 weeks before...saying that we will be having a fire drill sometime next week...etc etc... please go and see the fire drill evacuation plan so can be fast etc etc?![]()
