Computer Pros needed - Help with .SRT extension

  i've been having trouble with some non english movies and the subtitles. there is this .SRT file that is included with the movie that i download.
  
  must the .srt folder be in the same file as the .bin file only? as in, only those 2 files must be in one folder. i've tried VLC player, by going to video and then looking for subtitles or the different video tracks. some people say that there is another function specially for subtitles but i have been unable to find it.
  
  any form of help is appreciated.

  Some players automatically look for the srt file to play with the video. If it's not available, the video will still play. If you put it elsewhere, chances are the video will play minus the subs. The player should come with a function that asks you where to locate the srt and load the subs, which you have to manually point out where, then restart the video to play it with the subs.

  bsplayer lets you load or disable the subs, so does media player classic. I have not dealted with vlc player in my lousy life.
