in S'pore,
its legal to have sex at 16 yrs old...
and....
its only legal to watch R(A) movies(porn? counted?) at 21yrs old...
so technically, when u are 16, u would not get into trouble if u have sex...but if u flim it and watch,....u are in trouble with the law....-_-"

My guess would be the law is like that because having sex is something which a couple would do behind close doors so the influential effects is not that strong as movies or shows which have a much larger audience. I'll give you an example. A and B both 16 have sex in the hotel room. Full stop. That's all. No other 16 year olds or younger might know about this act unless its let out of the room in one way or another. But when a sex movie is shown in the cinemas or on tv, imagine the audience watching it stretches from what age to what age? Hence, the influential strength of doing it reel-time, I guess is higher than seeing it real-time. Of course, this works in the past whereby young teens are still 'leashed' by their parents or their elders. But I guess now, with handphones so widespread, especially camera handphones, there is no way stopping sex from reaching any ages seriously. It would be a matter of time you will see and hear more primary school kids doing it real-time.. Those who have already reached puberty lah of course.. Can't expect babies to do it right? Sick gore parents would do that to their babies man..

Having consensual sex with someone aged below 16 is regarded as rape if charged. The law does not say you can have legal sex above 16 years old. These are two different issues of the same theme.
Being able to fight wars at 18 years old and watching RA movies legally at 21 years old are again two totally different issues.
No, I am not some advocate of Singapore laws, but when we do such comparisons, do make sure they are contingent with each other. Otherwise, the comparisons would be illogical even though it seems to make common sense out of convenience. -
