I don't fault him for pointing out errors by DJ... but he should understand there is always certain amount of colloquialism to be accepted...
he can't expect people to be 100% spot on accurate in English.
when i did my essays in Uni, sometimes i am faulted by phrases deem too "colloquial" or unheard of. This is common with asian's essay in an ang moh country. But after argument my tutor sometimes gotta accept it because some phrases are just not used in N. america but its common in british-influenced countries.
if i tell you you win a pair of tickets, you would understand it to be 2 sets of tickets.
strictly and commonsense speaking a pair of shorts wouldn't be correct because there is only one token item.
but in the army you are issued a a pair of garters, which comes in 2 distinct items.
