  with electrical tariffs rising with impunity we must try to cut down on consumption to protect our pockets.

  If there is a converter attached, its still eating power. If you see at least one lit led indicator, its still eating power.

  It's very marginal if you save power from those applications. The biggest saving would come from water heater and air-con. So just bathe with cool water and sleep with fans. I guarantee you will see a sharp reduction of billing. Also those electrical kitchen appliances like electric pan. Just use fire instead.

  My mom says more power is consumed when you keep turning it on and off, but as an engineer by profession, I don't buy that.

  Use only one TV for watching television programmes as a family of course!
