I doubt anyone here knows this. I kinda think it was the first emporium. Called Tay Ban Guan on Katong. Across from the then Roxy cinema. Next to Roxy was another cinema but I can't remember the name. My dad used to take me to these when I was like 5 or 6 and I always fell asleep.

Transformers, I can understand. In fact, we had an exhibition on these toys which actually were visited by mostly adults. But Care Bears? Really? -
A&W closed down. Some others also One of the few remaining food joint is Jack's Place which survived the 80s and 90s. The one beside ang mo kio library is there for a very long time till now...

Osh GoshBgosh is still around. But now they dont show ads on TV like in the 80s. Toys R Us also stopped showing ads. What is shown now are stupid Hair products ads like Glower

In the 80s or 90s it was mostly western food joints in singapore. KFC, MAC, Pzza Hut, Swensen's, Haagen Dazz were all commonly found in Singapore. Now theiy have shrinked or gone all except the big ones like KFC, Mac who have the financial means to stay afloat. But now Asian food joints taking over..it is a sign of Asia's rising economic power in the world i guess.

Anyone remember Milano's Pizza?? I always thought their pizza taste better than Pizza Hut.
Used to go to Paco Funworld play Street Fighter also. -

i remember, SOGO, Milano, etc etc. SOGO was a pity though, but the department stores still makes money in Japan.

yup i remember that,KFC is really low standard compared to Texas fried chicken,used to love their chicken sandwich,was a fried piece of boneless chicken compared to the much more tasteless KFC chicken flat and round patty.It is only after Texas fried chicken left singapore that KFC pick up on that idea and introduce the zinger burger... haiz if only Texas fried chicken is still around...its departure gave KFC a almost monopolistic market on fast food fried chicken and thus leading to its standard dropping so much that it is not even worth to pay for it.Originally posted by Marco_Simone:How about Texas Chicken? Yes, Jacks' Place has survived, but the food was better in the past. and it's no longer as premium in terms of dining anymore.
