  Can anyone tell me How ip address is being assigned to to each pc? I'm learning something about networking now and met these problems..please asisst

  No la..just want to know more..Sometimes, my connection does get cocked up, so i wanted to learn more about how things work..abit interested in it too..hopefully, someone would be kind enough to guide me

  A good way to learn is to download Ethereal.
  
  You get to see the individual packets sent to and from your pc.

  i just want to know the process as in how is the ip address being assigned. I know it has something to do with the ISP and DHCP server, but i need more in-depth details about it.

  but then, you need an Atheros/PrismGT/Prism2/Realtek/Ralink/Orincco chipset wireless card, which is very hard to get nowadays cos they are yesteryear cards (managed to acquire a first hand card though at a premium). others cannot work with airodump as they are not optimised for sniffing nor are there such specialised drivers available.
  
  nowadays, cards come with Prism54/Broadcom chipsets which can't be used for sniffing.

  IP address can either dynamically generated or statically definded. The idea of using an IP address is to enable the communication between machine using Internet Protocol (IP) other than using the networking card's physical MAC address.
  
  Most Network uses a DHCP server to dynamically assign IP address. The dynamic generated IP address is used to ease network administration by defining a pool of IP address that can be obtain "as and when" needed. When a PC connects itself to a network, the network card checks the DHCP server for an unused IP address and request for it. When a PC disconnect itself from the network, the IP is release back into the pool.
  
  In static/assign mode, the user needs to specify the IP address bound to its network card.
